Peshawar Electric Supply Corporation (Pesco) board of directors’ member Nauman Wazir has suggested new policies to ration electricity in the province. Wazir suggested that feeders that face line losses of 80% should face 22 hours of load-shedding a day, and that all load-shedding be directly proportional to line losses from a feeder. Talking to The Express Tribune, Wazir said that people who do not pay their bills do not have a right to receive electricity. He put forward another suggestion that capacitors be installed in all grid stations to resolve the problem of low voltages being given to consumers. The low voltage of electricity is one of the biggest problems in the province. “It is not a welcome development when politicians induce people to start protests and demonstrations against Pesco, when those people do not even pay their electricity bills,” he said.
